Intesa Sanpaolo plays host to the first Efma council meetings of 2017 in Turin

Efma feature

14 February 2017

The first of this year’s series of Efma councils – a unique networking service for Efma members – kicks off in Turin, Italy on 21 March.

Hosted by Intesa Sanpaolo, the two-day event will feature six different council meetings: the Affluent and Private Banking Council, Operational Excellence Council, Physical Channels Council, Digital Channels Council, SME Council, and Insurance Council.

Each council brings together an exclusive group of senior executives from leading banks and insurance companies, allowing them to collaborate, network, discuss and exchange best practices with their peers in order to stay abreast of the latest ideas and developments in the industry.

The councils are free to attend and available to Efma members only. Non-members are eligible to join the Insurance Council meeting but are required to pay a fee to do so.

To date, Efma councils have gathered together more than 242 members from 39 countries. By being involved in an Efma council, members have access to a multitude of networking and knowledge sharing events, including the opportunity to attend three working sessions per year, as well as collaborative sessions, benchmarking workshops, study presentations and sessions dedicated to hot topics such as fintechs and start-ups.

“Participating in council meetings allows me to see how other banks have successfully overcome challenges when transforming their networks,” said Claudia Daffunchio, head of Physical Distribution and Branch Layout at Intesa Sanpaolo, about the benefits of being an Efma council member. “I can benchmark Intesa Sanpaolo against other banks to better understand how we compare in terms of market placement, overall business strategies and product or service innovation. Most importantly, when I attend council meetings, I’m able to stop thinking about my daily tasks and instead free my mind to explore new ideas and customer experiences.”

Efma will organise informal dinners on the evenings of 20 and 21 March to give members an opportunity to meet and network prior to the council meetings.

Two more council events are scheduled to take place later this year. The next will take place in Stockholm on 7-8 June, hosted by Swedbank. And the final meeting of the year is scheduled for November in Lisbon, hosted by Millennium bcp.
